Two-day chess contest

The Hindu in School Chess Competition 2016 presented by Thyrocare will be held at the Thiagarajar Polytechnic College auditorium in the city on July 23 and 24.

The two-day event will feature two categories: Juniors (students of class V – VIII) and Seniors (students of classes IX to XII).

The competition, being conducted in association with the Salem District Chess Association under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Chess Association, is open for both for boys and girls.

The tournament will be played on Swiss League basis under latest FIDE rapid rules.

Students participating in the competition have to bring their own chess sets and chess clock. They should hand over the print out of registration slip at the venue along with the school ID card.

Top nine players (category-wise) will be awarded with trophies / medals and merit certificates. Participation certificate will be given to all the contestants.

Amith Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police, will distribute the prizes on Sunday evening at the venue.
