Women found dead

Two elderly women who had consumed country-made liquor were found dead outside their residence in Attur here on Saturday.

Chellamal (65), wife of Ramasamy (75) of Kalpaganur, Attur used to consume alcohol with Kamatchi (50), wife of Vadivel, residing opposite her house.

On Friday, both consumed country-made liquor.

On Saturday morning, Vadivel found both lying dead outside the house.

Villagers gathered in large numbers and the police were informed. The bodies were taken to Government Hospital in Attur and post-mortem conducted.

The police have registered a case. The police are investigating whether they had consumed illicit country-made liquor that is easily available in the village.
