Police have arrested two drivers of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation for allegedly pelting a bus with stones, in which the driver of the bus was injured.

The police said TNSTC drivers S. Madasamy (46) and his friend M. Murugaiah (43), both hailing from Balamarthandapuram under Chokkampatti police station limits, hurled stones at a bus, which was proceeding from Courtallam to Sankarankovil, on Monday evening when the bus was crossing Punnaiahpuram.

In the attack, the windscreen of the bus was smashed and driver N. Mohan (46) of Thesiyampatti was injured on the left shoulder. Mr. Mohan was rushed to Puliyangudi government hospital.

The police arrested Madasamy and Murugaiah.

In another incident, some unidentified persons pelted a State Express Transport Corporation bus, which was proceeding to Tirunelveli from Papanasam, with stones when it was crossing Agasthiyarpatti.

Though the windscreen of the bus was smashed in the attack, none of the 15 passengers was injured.
