The CB-CID police on Monday arrested two officials of the TNPCB, Vellore in connection with a wall collapse at the Common Effluent Treatment Plant at SIDCO Industrial Estate, Ranipet, that claimed the lives of 10 workers on January 31.

Police said they have arrested P. Kamaraj, district environmental engineer and M. Muralidharan, assistant environmental engineer of TNPCB, Vellore. They were produced in the Vellore court and lodged at the Vellore Central Prison for Men. TNPCB had suspended the two officers along with S. Ten workers of an adjacent leather company were buried in toxic sludge in the incident.
