A team of officials on Wednesday nabbed two quacks, including a retired health inspector, in the town.

Acting on complaints, a team led by P. Girija, joint director of medical and rural health services, Tiruvannamalai, nabbed Natarajan,41, and Krishnamoorthy,74. They were running clinics at S. Keezhnatchipattu and practising medicine without qualification.

“Natarajan had studied B.A. History and has been treating people for more than five years. Krishnamoorthy is a retired health inspector and has been running a clinic in his house after retirement. He had drugs and injections at the clinic,” Dr.Girija said.

The duo has been handed over to the police. “Since November 2016, we have nabbed a total of 48 quacks across Tiruvannamalai district. Most of them run clinics in rural areas. We have nabbed seven to eight quacks from Tiruvannamalai town,” Dr. Girija said.

The State Health Department recently presented an award to Dr. Girija for conducting raids and nabbing quacks in the district.
