Two men robbed of cash

Two men were robbed of Rs. 4.5 lakh by a four-member gang after spraying chilly power on their face in the busy Shevapet area here on Monday morning.

The incident occurred when Babu and Ramachari, employees of a shop selling silver items run by Suresh at Devengam Pillaiyar Kovil Street in Shevapet, were on their way to a bank to deposit Rs. 8 lakh and Rs. 4.5 lakh on a two-wheeler.

The gang waylaid them by spraying chilly powder. In the impact, the two fell on the road with the cash in two bags.

The gang fled with the bag containing Rs. 4. 5 lakh. Suresh was informed who lodged a complaint with the Shevapet police.

The police have registered a case and are investigating. The entire incident was recorded in a surveillance camera placed in a shop in the area. Suresh have identified one of the gang members in the CCTV footage.

It was said that the identified member was a former worker at the shop who along with his friends could have been involved in the robbery.
