The city police arrested a youth and 20-year-old woman on the charge of murdering her husband in 2012.

The police said that C. Ragu (23), a painter, was married to Rama (20) and had a daughter. On May 28, 2012, Ragu left home, but did not return. On June 12, 2012, Rama lodged a complaint with the Pallapatti police who registered a case and searched him.

However, there is no development in the case for the past three years.

Recently, the city police began investigating the missing persons cases that were yet to be solved.

Inquiries with Rama revealed that she was having an illicit affair with Balaji of the same area and Ragu warned her not to continue the relationship. Hence she along with her brother Manikaraj, and Balaji planned to murder him.

On May 28, 2012, Manikaraj and Balaji took Ragu to a lake in Pallapatti for consuming liquor.

They mixed poison in the liquor and after consuming it, Ragu died. The duo tied the body to a stone and threw it into a well in the area.

Based on her statement, the police on Monday searched the well and recovered skeletons and sent it for analysis. Rama and Balaji were arrested and lodged at prison.
