The police arrested two woodcutters from Tamil Nadu and seized 10 red sanders logs worth ₹3.45 lakh from them on the Rayachoti-Tsundupalle road in Rayachoti, Kadapa district, on Friday night.

Doraswamy Krishnamurthy, 45, of Pendamalai village, and Ponnuswamy, 40, of Channapattu village in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu, were arrested, according to Rayachoti Urban circle inspector Maheswar Reddy.

On a tip-off, the police chased and intercepted an SUV and nabbed the two despite the woodcutters’ bid to attack the police with stones and axes, the inspector said.

Another woodcutter, Muthappa, and the SUV driver fled the spot and a search has been launched to nab them.
