Two child marriages stopped in Namakkal

Two child marriages were stopped by officials here recently. The marriage of 16-year-old girl with that of a 27-year-old man, that was scheduled to take place on March 12, was stopped by team of officials here on Saturday.

In another incident on March 7, proposal is to perform a marriage between a 17-year-old girl of Mohanur with that of a 22-year-old man of Salem.

The girl is Class 12 dropout. In both the cases, written statement was obtained from the parents that they will not perform marriage for their daughters until they complete 18 years.
