Two brothers get 7 years for murder

Two brothers who murdered their own brother over land dispute were sentenced to seven years imprisonment by a court here on Friday. The prosecution case is that Rajamuthu of Thimirakottai in Mecheri has fine sons, Natesan, Selvam, Ganesan, Duraisamy and Kannan. In a dispute over sharing ancestral properties, trouble erupted between Natesan (50) and Duraisamy (49) and Kannan (43). On August 31, 2011, Duraisamy and Kannan assaulted Natesan with wooden club and stone. Natesan died on the spot. Mecheri police registered a case of murder and arrested Duraisamy and Kannan. First Additional District Judge K. Rajasekar found both guilty of murder and handed down seven years imprisonment each and a fine of Rs.1,000 each. They were lodged at Salem Central Prison.
