Two held for selling deer meat

Two persons were found selling deer meat on peripheries of the reserve forest near here on Tuesday.

On receiving information that deer meat was being sold near reserve forest, a team of forest personnel led by Odugathur forest Range Officer R. Muralidaran rushed to Agaram Seri reserve forest and found two persons selling pieces of deer meat on the forest’s peripheries. They were arrested and identified as M. Sathish (19) and A. Mathavan belonging to Gandhi Nagar near Pallikonda.

They said in interrogation that they recovered the deer found shot dead in Pallalakuppam Reserve Forest and brought it to Agaram Seri to cut it into pieces and sell. Whoever purchased and cooked the meat couldn’t be tracked, forest sources said. — Staff Reporter
