MDMK general secretary Vaiko on Tuesday charged that the opinion poll conducted by a private news channel and a Tamil daily was a clear case of conspiracy to ensure the victory of the DMK in the May 16 Assembly elections.

Speaking at an election rally at Ulundurpet, he said that the survey had pointed out that the DMK would win 33 seats in western region as against 24 by the AIADMK.

Mr. Vaiko said that the survey was inspired by pro-DMK sentiments.

The survey claims to have interviewed various sections of people, including farmers and students. However, there is no truth in the survey and it lacks credibility.

He said that the survey had also said that PMK’s Chief Ministerial candidate Anbumani Ramadass would be pushed to the third spot in Pennagaram Assembly constituency. Although the PMK is our adversary putting the PMK in the third spot is not right, he said.

‘Attempt to weaken PWF’

The opinion poll is an attempt to weaken the prospects of the People’s Welfare Front in the elections, he added.

He added that the survey was inspired by pro-DMK sentiments and lacks credibility
