Tuticorin murder case accused known for bullying students

October 12, 2013 12:51 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 07:47 pm IST - TUTICORIN/TIRUNELVELI:

The three students who killed their principal at an engineering college here on Thursday had created a series of problems that led to disciplinary action against them, providing them with a motive to wreak vengeance on L.R.D. Suresh, the slain college head.

Enquiries with the administration and among students of Infant Jesus College of Engineering revealed that Pitchaikannan, the main suspect headed a dominant student group while staying in the hostel.

Along with his associates, Danish and Prabhakaran, he allegedly chaired a ‘kangaroo court’ whenever disputes erupted among students staying in the hostel.

And, the verdict of this ‘three-member bench’ had to be accepted by all parties involved in the dispute.

They also used to tease junior students at the mess and during the nights.

When the problem went out of control, the college administration evicted the trio from the hostel with a fine.

The slain principal played a crucial role in the disciplinary action.
