TRS aspirants on the edge

Scores of leaders desperately waiting for CM to announce filling of posts

April 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - WARANGAL:

“It is nearly a year since the party came to power. We do not know when we will get the nominated posts,” is the often repeated comment being heard in Telangana Rashtra Samithi circles.

Scores of party leaders and those who failed to get the ticket for Assembly and Parliament were desperately waiting for the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to fill the nominated posts.

There were more leaders than the posts available.

The TRS took the help of every section in society during a decade-long separate Telangana movement and every section was hoping to benefit from the fruits now.

Contestants, who lost election such as Peddi Sudarshan Reddy, aspirants like M. Yadava Reddy of Telangana Graduates Association (TGA) and district president T. Ravinder Rao who could not get the ticket and like them many who are associated with various organisations are eagerly waiting for their share of power.

The long list of leaders include those of Telangana Vidyavanthula Vedika, Telangana Graduates Association, KU Students JAC, TNGOs and JACs of various other departments.

The KU students’ bodies came out openly urging the Chief Minister to consider nominating one or two from the KU campus as was done from Osmania University campus.

“Three students from Osmania University got political chances, but not a single one from the Kakatiya University,” lamented a student JAC leader. A senior activist expressed his apprehension that nominated posts may be put off as long as possible as it would be difficult to please all the aspirants.

“The Congress party did not fill the posts at all despite securing power for two terms. But, we hope TRS government may give nominated posts as a mark of thanks to important leaders who took part in separate Telangana agitation, he said.

TRS leaders Acha Vidyasagar, Nannapaneni Narender, Bollam Sampath Kumar, Nagurla Venkateswarlu, Md. Nayeemuddin, Akula Lalitha Yadav and many more were aspiring for the posts.

Senior academics Prof. K. Sitarama Rao, TNGOs leader Paritala Subba Rao, Archaka Samakhya president Gangu Upendra Sharma were also hoping that KCR would recognise their services and honour them accordingly.

The district has got very few posts and there is too much of competition.
