Complaints have come from pensioners of the State government in different parts of the State that their pension has not been credited to their bank accounts on the due date.
Parts of Coimbatore, Cuddalore and Tuticorin were among the areas from where the complaints have come. The pension should have been credited on November 29 (being the last working day).
In Coimbatore, over 25,000 pensioners were affected as their aggregate pension amount of around Rs. 36 crore was not credited. However, crediting of salary was not affected, a District Treasury official said.
Technical problem
Sources say the problem arose due to some files “getting corrupted” at State Bank of India’s end, one of the banks attached to the Treasuries and Accounts Department. The problem in some areas was identified on Saturday and rectified. The problem in other areas was being attended to.
Meanhwile, the Tamil Nadu Government Employees Association cited technical hitches in disbursement of salary and temporary posts in various departments not being filled for more than three decades as prime reasons for “frequent” delays in crediting money.
