Training in Vannamei farming

March 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:01 am IST - TUTICORIN:

Pathogen-free Vannamei shrimp farming tended to be a lucrative venture for entrepreneurs. This shrimp variety contributed much to seafood exports. Though its production witnessed an increasing trend, its off-take had reduced slightly.

To overcome the problem of cost of production, a training programme was organised on profitable Vannamei farming, G. Sugumar, Dean (in-charge), Fisheries College and Research Institute, Tuticorin, said on Sunday. Shrimp farms are flourishing from Nagapattinam to Ramanathapuram along the East-Coast and also in parts of Tuticorin.
