Training in disaster management

Collector M. Karunakaran inaugurated the two-day disaster management training programme for tahsildars and the deputy tahsildars at the Collectorate here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Karunakaran said the participants, after understanding the nature of the disaster such as torrential rain, drought, tsunami, earthquake etc. and their magnitude, should respond quickly so that the affected people could be saved on the right time and moved to safety.

He urged the officials to discharge their duties during the hour of crisis with the utmost dedication.

Indian Red Cross Society’s Tirunelveli Chapter had made the arrangements for the training programme.

IRCS State vice-chairman D.A. Prabhakar, Public Relations Officer R. Anna and others participated in the inaugural function.
