SALEM: A section of the police officers who are participating in the training programme on investigating grave crimes at the Salem District Police Office on Tuesday.

The need for proper and effective investigation into the grave crimes to ensure severe punishment to the perpetrators of the crime was discussed at the special training camp for the police officials organised by the Salem District Police which commenced at the District Police Office here on Tuesday.

G. Subbulakshmi, Superintendent of Police, inaugurated the week long training programme.

The event was organised with the objective of initiating effective investigation into the crimes of grave nature such as murder, murder for gain, dacoity, robbery, and rape. In the absence of effective investigation, the perpetrators of such heinous crime escape with minimum punishment. Gokularamanan, Forensic Specialist, Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital and M. Mohan, former Superintendent of Police, handled the special sessions.

Officers in the rank of Deputy Superintendents of Police, Inspectors of Police, Sub-Inspectors are participating in the programme.
