Train services were disrupted for two hours on Palani-Dindigul section near Chathirapatti as ballst and soil were found eroded at three spots near the track owing to heavy rain on Sunday.

While Tiruchendur bound passenger train from Palghat was stranded at Palani railway station, Palghat bound Palghat Express from Chennai was halted at Oddanchathiram.

After a line man on duty on the Chathirapatti section detected the soil erosion and alerted Palani and Dindigul railway stations, the station staff stopped the trains immediately.
