Expecting heavy inflow of tourists during the four consecutive holidays, the Nilgiris police have introduced one-way traffic system in Udhagamandalam till Tuesday.

Vehicles ascending the hill station from Mettupalayam will have to ply via Coonoor to reach Udhagamandalam. Descending vehicles will have to pass through Kotagiri to reach Mettupalayam.

Meanwhile, the police have issued stickers for vehicles registered in Udhagamandalam for free flow within the district. But the local vehicles will not be allowed to descend the hill station via Coonoor.

The arrangements were made expecting heavy inflow of tourists from Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka on the four days.
