The ongoing work to construct a two-tier flyover in the city has led to traffic congestion on the roads. But, the situation is worse as vehicles were diverted without proper planning leading to confusion among the road users.

Raising of pillars is now being done on Omalur Main Road, Sarada College Road and Junction Main Road.

The road near New Bus Stand was closed for traffic and vehicles on both the directions were diverted in the road near Pallapatti Police station where town buses stop.

Since buses halt there frequently, other vehicles overtake the buses thereby mixing up with vehicles coming in the opposite direction. This disrupts the vehicle flow on both the directions causing congestion.

Road users wanted the buses to halt at the entrance of the bus stand so that flow of vehicles in the road is not disrupted. In the absence of traffic police personnel to regulate traffic, the stretch witness frequent congestion.

The road near TVS Bus Stop was closed for vehicles proceeding towards Four Roads as vehicles have to take left turn and enter residential areas and reach the main road near Four Roads.

Both the side of the roads was used for parking vehicles by shopkeepers and residents leaving only little space for vehicle users to move on. In the absence of a board indicating traffic diversion, road users are confused over using the roads to reach the Four Roads. They wanted traffic diversion boards to be kept in the streets besides police personnel near bus stands to regulate traffic.
