A student who secured the State-level rank in the SSLC examination in 2012, has emerged first in the district in the Plus Two examinations this year.
P. Srinath of Ponnaiyah Ramajayam Public Higher Secondary School (HSS) secured the district first rank in Thanjavur revenue district. He secured 1,183 marks (Tamil 191, English 192, Mathematics 200, Physics 200, Chemistry 200, and Computer Science 200). “I want to become a computer engineer and do some wonders. I shall choose Anna University or any merit-based engineering college,” he said.
The boy appeared not complacent with his achievement. “I have planned for re-evaluation of the English and Tamil answer-sheets,” he told presspersons at the school at Easwari Nagar in the town.
Re-evaluationHe would obtain the photocopy of the answer-sheets to decide on re-evaluation or re-totalling of the papers English and Tamil.
G. Rajappa, headmaster of the school, said that Srinath, a promising student, was simple and humble.
Releasing the results to the media, N. Subbaian, said the district second rank went to M. Vignesh of Maxwell Matriculation HSS, Thanjavur, who got 1,181 marks.
The third position went to U. Anamika of Laurel HSS, Pattukottai. She got 1,177 marks.
The Collector said that 25,877 out of the 28,824 students through 189 HSS in the revenue district emerged successful, registering a pass percentage of 89.78 this year. The results was up by 0.44 per cent this year, as compared to last year’s achievement.
Centum galoreThe Collector said that 56 students scored centum in mathematics, 43 in commerce, 33 in physics, 25 in computer science, 20 in chemistry, 19 in accountancy, 11 in biology, 6 in business mathematics, and one in botany.
