Top official probes death of elephant

Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Inder Dhamija on Tuesday conducted a spot inquiry into the death of a 20-year-old male elephant immediately after it was tranquilised for fixing a radio-collar on Sunday.

Mr. Dhamija, accompanied by District Forest Officer V. Thirunavukkarasu, WWF consultant Ajay A. Desai and others, visited a brick kiln in Thadagam and enquired with a worker who, in an inebriated condition hooted the elephant.
