The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) will conduct the largest recruitment drive in 30 years by filling thousands of vacancies in the Group-IV category at one stroke.
Applications will be called for on Saturday to fill 10,793 vacancies in over 100 departments in the State government, TNPSC Chairman R. Nataraj said on Friday. This includes 75 vacancies of Executive Officers in the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR&CE), junior assistants, draughtsmen, stenographers, surveyors among others in other departments. “This is the largest recruitment drive in 30 years. This much-awaited exercise will be completed by September 2012.”
Mr. Nataraj said Group-IV recruitment would be completely online with no manual communication with the candidate whatsoever. “Registration, application, acknowledgement, issue of hall ticket, results etc., will be only online. The pay scale for these positions is Rs.5,200-20,200 (Grade Pay Rs.2,400). Other details will be available on the TNPC website. We expect more than 7 lakh applications.”
Huge hit
Saying the redesigned website of the commission, “www.tnpsc.gov.in,” had evoked a good response by recording 3.7 lakh hits in about a month, Mr. Nataraj said government departments were welcome to popularise their priority schemes by running a scrolling free of cost.
TNPSC Secretary T. Udhayachandran said an average of 13,000 persons visited the commission's website everyday.
“It is not only job-seekers but also departmental candidates. Besides job postings, there is a lot of other information such as the history of the organisation and details of renowned civil servants,” he said. The use of Google analytics had revealed that a large number of people visited the site from other States and foreign countries.
Mr. Udhayachandran said 30,000 candidates had registered their profile online (one-time registration) so far and the number was increasing by the minute.
Facilitation centres were being established in all taluks, post-offices, select Indian Bank branches etc., to enable candidates to go for one-time registration.
Asked whether one-time registration was mandatory for Group-IV posts to be notified on Saturday, he said, “Though we would encourage the applicants to register before applying, it is not been made compulsory yet.”
