The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) has computerised the receipt of applications for consent orders of the Board for industries, and for the grant of orders. The online receipt of applications has been made operational with effect from January 20.

According to a release from the TNPCB, the Board has developed the software using open software technology. It has developed the software for downloading the application forms for consent orders and for receipt of the consent orders by the applicants.

Besides issuing online consent orders for operation of units, orders for establishment of new units and renewal of the consent orders would also be issued online through the software.

The applications received from the entrepreneurs/ industrialists would be immediately forwarded online to the District Environmental Engineers of the Board for action.

The software also provides for the applicants to know online the status of their applications.

All the engineers of the TNPCB have been trained on the new software. Steps have been taken to make the software work through the cloud server created with modern technology at the National Informatics Centre.

Suggestions and views on the new software would be received till February 19 and the software upgraded and finalized, after which applications would be received only in the online format.

Assistance centres are functioning in all the district offices of the TNPCB in order to enable the entrepreneurs to clarify their doubts.

The software could be accessed through the TNPCB website, www.tnpcb.gov.in.
