The Federation of TNEB Pensioners' Associations has urged the State government to provide adequate financial support to successor entities of the now-defunct Tamil Nadu Electricity Board so that pensioners of the TNEB would be given concessions on a par with those of State government pensioners.

In a statement, V. Jaganathan, general secretary of the association, recalled the assurance given by Electricity Minister Arcot N. Veeraswami in the Assembly in 2006 regarding parity in concessions.

Among the demands made by the association were encashment of unearned leave on private affairs, treating 50 per cent of the duration of service rendered by temporary casual labourers and those on the nominal muster rolls for calculating pension, and provision of dearness allowance at the revised level to those who retired from service from June 1960 to May 1988.

Mr. Jaganathan said the association had been seeking time from Chief Minister's Office to present its memorandum to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
