Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Wednesday ordered setting up of two gymnasiums for men and women government employees working in the state secretariat to keep them trim and fit.

In a statement issued here by the government, Ms. Jayalalithaa had ordered setting up of the gyms, containing around 20 pieces of exercise equipment and costing Rs.50 lakh.

According to the statement, around 6,000 people work in the secretariat. Their health is affected since they are chair-bound for long hours during working days and even on holidays.

The gyms will not only keep the staff healthy but ensure they complete their work fast, the statement said.
