Political parties in Tamil Nadu are unappreciative of the good work that the Central government has done for the State, BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan said here on Saturday.
Addressing mediapersons, Ms. Soundararajan said that whenever political parties had raised issues concerning the State, the Centre had been receptive and had taken necessary steps to address them. But when it came to projects for the State's development, like the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the political parties in Tamil Nadu were unappreciative of the Centre’s efforts.
Censures Stalin
No party had condemned Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy for saying that the neighbouring State preferred further talks on the sharing of Cauvery water and that it would move the Supreme Court, she said.
“DMK working president [M.K. Stalin], who has been at the forefront of criticism against the Centre, has not criticised Mr. Kumaraswamy for his anti-Tamil Nadu stand. Other political parties haven’t condemned his statement either. In fact, Mr. Stalin should take out a protest march to Bengaluru,” she added.
Gutkha scam
On the gutkha scam, Ms. Soundararajan said that the Central Bureau of Investigation should conduct a thorough probe and not spare any political party found to have facilitated the sale of the banned tobacco product in the State for the past 10 to 15 years.
“Both the DMK and the AIADMK should be questioned,” the BJP leader said.
