TN parties hail AAP victory

February 11, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:27 am IST - CHENNAI:

PMK leader S. Ramadoss said the landslide of the Aam Admi Party (AAP) had only expressed the anger of the Delhi voters, who wanted to settle score with the corrupt administration in the capital.

In a statement here, he said AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal had fully understood the aspirations of people. “People also reposed faith in him. They believe that he will live up to their expectations.” Dr. Ramadoss urged Mr. Kejriwal to run the government in a responsible manner and not repeat the mistakes of the past. The attitude of the Tamil Nadu people could be compared to the Delhi voters and they were waiting for an occasion to teach a lesson to the AIADMK. “The outcome of the Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu will reflect their mindset,” he added.

MDMK general secretary Vaiko demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi step down since the election was a clear sign that people have lost their trust on the BJP-led Centre.

Tamil Maanila Congress president G.K. Vasan said the AAP victory was proof that people had disapproved the communal policies of the BJP and their disappointment with the political activities of the Congress.

Puducherry Special Correspondent adds:

VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan termed the poll outcome in Delhi a huge blow to the BJP government at the Centre.

He said neither the Modi-wave nor BJP chief Amit Shah’s political strategy worked out in the elections. Ahead of elections, more than 10 churches were attacked in New Delhi and a hate campaign against minorities was unleashed by the BJP.

“This election proved that hate campaign of the BJP does not appeal the voters and the majority voters wanted an alternative to the BJP and the Congress. Policies of the BJP miserably failed within nine months of Mr. Modi coming to power,” he said.
