TN Minister Chendur Pandian critical

P. Chendur Pandian, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister, who fell ill on Monday, was on Tuesday declared critical.   

The Minister, who was originally admitted to Fortis Malar hospital, was shifted to Apollo Hospitals on Tuesday morning following resuscitation. A release issued by the Apollo Hospitals stated that “he is on continuous close monitoring at the Critical Care Unit.”

The 63-year-old Chendur Pandian earlier held the portfolios of Khadi & Village Industries and Tourism.

In May 2011, he was elected to the Tamil Nadu assembly from Kadayanallur in Tirunelveli district.

A senior official said the Minister attended to work at the Secretariat till Monday afternoon. After going to his official bungalow, he complained of breathlessness around 5 p.m. Immediately, he was hospitalised.

Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam visited his colleague at the hospital on Monday evening.
