TN leaders condole Shekhawat’s demise

Tamil Nadu Governor S.S. Barnala Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa on Saturday expressed grief and shock at the demise of former Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

Describing Shekhwat as an able administrator, Barnala said the late leader was known for his simplicity and had dedicated himself for the cause of poor and downtrodden.

“His death is an irreparable loss to the nation”, he said in his message.

Recalling Shekhawat’s stints as Chief Minister of Rajasthan and Vice-president, Karunanidhi said the leader had served the country in a “laudable manner”.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family members, people of Rajasthan and BJP workers on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Government,” he said in a statement here.

Jayalalithaa in her message said, in Shekhawat’s death, people had lost an eminent national leader, a selfless social worker and a true patriot.

Puducherry Lt. Governor Iqbal Singh also expressed grief, saying “The veteran leader stood for simplicity and was committed to the ideologies.”
