A local court on Friday granted bail to PMK founder S. Ramadoss in a case filed against him for taking part in protests against Kudankulam nuclear plant, violating prohibitory orders a few months ago.
More than 150 cases were filed against various persons including Ramadoss, MDMK leader Vaiko and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thirumavalavan, for violating prohibitory orders.
An arrest warrant was issued against Ramadoss, already lodged in the Tiruchi prison in connection with the April 25 violence at Marakkanam in Villupuram district.
Judicial magistrate Ruskin Raj granted bail to the PMK leader.
Ramadoss and other PMK workers were arrested in Villupuram on April 30 for violating prohibitory orders. Besides, other cases have also been registered against him.
Ramadoss’ son, former Union Minister Anbumani Ramadoss, who was arrested on May 3 for offences, including unlawful assembly and rioting at a PMK function at Mamallapuram last year, was released yesterday from the Puzhal prison near Chennai after he secured conditional bail in cases pending against him.
