Setting in motion arrangements for the launch of his party, Congress breakaway leader G.K. Vasan on Thursday affirmed that his party would strive hard to emerge as the preferred choice of the electorate in the 2016 Assembly election.
With his supporters pulling out all the stops to make the party launch a show of strength, Mr. Vasan drove down to the city to participate in the ‘pandakkal’ ceremony at G. Corner ground, venue of the public meeting to be held here on November 28.
“We want to grow as a strong movement, showing the way with probity, simplicity and hard work in public life. We intend to go to people and take up their problems and find solutions for the same. We are confident we will able to usher in the change that people aspire for,” Mr. Vasan told reporters at the venue.
“The Tiruchi meeting will be a turning point and harbinger of political change,” Mr. Vasan said. There was growing support for his movement, especially from youth and women. People of different walks of life and organisations had offered their support and come forward to work with him, he claimed.
