Tighten surveillance: Collector

May 14, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - DINDIGUL:

Income Tax and Commercial Tax officials will have to intensify nocturnal surveillance in all the seven assembly constituencies to prevent distribution of cash and transportation of bulk goods without any valid documents, said Collector Satyaprada Sahoo.

Addressing a meeting with IT and commercial tax officials here on Friday, he said that opportunities for poll code violations at night were very bright.

So the officials should intensify search operations at night for the next three days. Paramilitary and police forces would support the surveillance team for effective monitoring, he added.

At the same time, TASMAC officials and the police should ensure that no individual procured liquor in bulk quantity from TASMAC shops as the shops would be closed for the next three days.

All campaign-related activities should end at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Campaign should not be made through TV and radio also. Violations would attract two-year jail term, he cautioned.
