Tiger and panther skin and tusks were seized from four persons in Dharmapuri on Sunday.

Following information that the tiger and panther skin and tusks had been illegally transported to an unidentified destination in the district, R. Sudhakar, Superintendent of Police, had instructed a special team of police led by M. Rathinakumar, Inspector, Dharmapuri town, to conduct vehicle check near Kundalpatti Pirivu Salai near Dharmapuri town in the morning.

Four arrested

On suspicion, the team intercepted two bikes and recovered two tusks and tiger and panther skin. Four persons were arrested.

After a detailed inquiry, the arrested persons had been handed over to forest officials for further enquiry and legal action, the police said.

During the last week of November 2009, forest officials confiscated panther skin and a pair of tusks in Papparapatti and Palacode.
