Four automatic ticket vending machines for getting unreserved tickets were inaugurated at Tirunelveli Railway Junction on Thursday.

Two more machines have been installed at Ambasamudram railway station.

To reduce the long queues in front of the unreserved train ticket counters, the ticket vending machines have been installed at Tirunelveli Junction. After purchasing the smartcard on payment of Rs. 100, the travellers can get Rs. 52-worth unreserved tickets from the vending machine with the smartcard, which can be recharged for further use.

The smartcard can be used for purchasing unreserved tickets in the passenger trains and also in express trains. For getting season tickets, the passengers should register their names in the counter for the first time and renew the season ticket with the smartcard.

Tirunelveli Railway Junction Manager Chelladurai inaugurated the facility on Thursday.
