Production from two units of Tuticorin Thermal Power Station (TTPS) suffered a blow here on Sunday evening following heavy thunder and lightning.
While production from the fourth unit of TTPS was affected around 8.30 p.m., the third unit was hit around 9 p.m, reliable sources from TTPS told The Hindu on Monday.
With the suspension of production from these two units, there is a shortfall of 420 megawatt. The fourth unit was expected to resume production between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. The third unit might resume production either at midnight or in the early morning. Annual overhauling work taken up in the first unit were completed on August 15. Production from other three units was in full swing, sources added.
