December 05, 2010 11:42 pm | Updated 11:42 pm IST - COIMBATORE:

The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation has said that purchase of three-star energy efficient pumpsets (high discharge mixed flow pumpsets and for all categories of monoblock motor pumpsets) will be accepted under the “one pole scheme” for agriculture connections.

The corporation was implementing a scheme to provide two lakh agricultural pumpset service connections for which applications were registered till March 31, 2000. Farmers were requested to register their readiness with four-star and above rated energy efficient motors and pumpsets as this would result in 20 per cent energy saving. There were reports that four-star and above rated pumpsets were not available for high discharge mixed flow pumpsets in the submersible category and three phase monoblock pumps for all categories.

Hence, it was decided that apart from accepting four-star pumpsets, three-star ones would also be accepted for select models.

Southern India Engineering Manufacturers' Association president R.R. Ranghanathen has said in a release that this would ensure supply of energy-efficient mixed flow pumpsets to more number of farmers.
