Three unauthorised dyeing units that were functioning in the city were demolished by officials here on Tuesday.

A team led by District Environment Engineer A. Rangasamy inspected the units and found one unit in Seelanaickenpatti discharging effluents into the drain. Another unit in the same area and one in Kondalampatti were not in operation. However, officials dismantled the units and warned owners not to operate it. Officials said that these units were discharging effluents into the drains that ultimately mix with River Thirumanimutharu.

They warned that the drive against the unauthorised units would continue in the coming days.
