Kodaikanal murder: three detained under Goondas Act

Three persons, who were arrested on charges of rape and murder of a woman in Kodaikanal, were detained under Goondas Act as per recommendation of Superintendent of Police A. Saravanan here on Thursday. Collector T.N. Hariharan had issued the order.

Sampath Kumar (32), watchman of a private cottage in Kodaikanal, his friend Sakthivel of Narimedu in Madurai district and DTH distributor Jegadeesa Pandian of Ladanendal near Tirupuvanam in Sivaganga district were detained.

The police said that trio had misbehaved with Pandi Selvi (25) of Kodimangalam in Madurai district on February 6. She was working as a maid in a professor’s house at Sellapuram in Kodaikanal.

The trio had stabbed her 15 times in the neck.
