Three persons were killed and six others injured when a school bus collided head on with a van going to Sivaganga from Uthamapalayam at Ottupatti village near Batlagundu here Friday.
The deceased were van driver Selvam (27), Muhulakshmi and her husband Periyasamy (40) – all of Karumipatti village near Thuvarankurichi in Sivaganga district.
The four, who were injured, were referred to Madurai GRH after first aid at Batlagundu GH.
Two others have been referred to Theni Medical College hospital. The police said that they were returning to Madurai from Uthamapalayam after taking part in the temple festival. The school van that was going to Batlagundu hit the van coming in the opposite direction.
