Three killed in road accident at Maranthai

Three persons, including a four-year-old girl, were killed in a road accident at Maranthai near Tirunelveli on Friday night.

More than 15 injured

Police said a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus, that was proceeding from Tirunelveli to Surandai, dashed against a lorry, coming from Tenkasi, around 9.30 p.m..In the incident a man and a woman passengers were killed on the spot and more than 15 passengers were injured.

The injured persons were rushed to various hospitals, including Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital, where the four-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries on arrival.

Police and Fire and Rescue Services personnel rushed to the spot and cleared the mangled remains of the vehicles.

Alangulam police have registered a case in this connection.
