Three persons were killed in an accident involving lorries in Paiyanapalli near here on Saturday night.

Police sources said that M. Ramesh (32), M. Loganathan (57) died on the spot, while P. Krishnasamy died on the way to Dindigul district after being administered first aid at the Government Headquarter’s Hospital here

The accident took place when a lorry laden with paint proceeding to Dindigul from Bangalore rammed a stationary lorry with a load of rice meant for Salem from Tumkur in Karnataka near the Paiyanapalli junction on the Bangalore-Krishnagiri National Highway in the small hours.

Krishnasamy succumbed to injuries on the way to his hometown. It was suspected that the paint lorry driver rammed the stationary lorry as he might have dozed due to tiredness.

Krishnagiri taluk police have registered a case under sections 279 (rash driving), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life) and 304 A (causing by negligence) of Indian Penal Code. Further investigations are on.
