Three held with fake currency notes

Police have arrested three persons for allegedly possessing fake currency notes, worth Rs. 2.76 lakh at Sankarankovil on Friday.

Skips check-point

Police said a Sports Utility Vehicle with three occupants skipped a vehicle check-point at Sankarankovil Taluk police station limits when a police team was checking vehicle records on Friday evening.

Hot chase

After a hot chase, the police stopped the SUV.

On checking the vehicle, the police found that the occupants, S. Hasan (65) and M. Vellasamy (60), both from Sankarankovil, and K. Madasamy (40) of Thangammalpuram, were carrying 77 counterfeit currency notes in the denomination of Rs. 1,000, and 393 notes in Rs. 500 denomination.

The trio were arrested and further investigations are on.
