Three former Congress MLAs join AIADMK

Three former Congress MLAs —S.Sivaraj, D. Amaramurthy and K. Venkatachalam — along with their supporters on Tuesday joined the AIADMK in the presence of party general secretary and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

Mr Sivaraj, a four-time MLA, was elected from the Rishivandhiyam constituency in 1984, 1996, 2001 and 2006. He was the president of the district Congress committee for 25 years and youth Congress leader for seven years.

D. Amaramurthy, who functioned as Ariyalur district Congress president for 12 years, was elected from the Ariyalur Assembly constituency in 1996 and 2006.

Mr Venkatachalam was elected from the Lalgudi Assembly constituency in 1984.
