Three estate workers were attacked by a leopard at Valparai in the district while returning home and have been hospitalised, police said.

The trio were returning home at around 9 p.m. on Sunday night when the leopard pounced on them from behind a bush and attacked them, they said.

However, the animal ran back to the jungles after fellow workers raised an alarm.

One of the workers sustained head injuries and the other two on their hands and legs, police said.
