Three doctors of Vellore medical college suspended

The State government on Thursday suspended three doctors of the Vellore Government Medical College Hospital after receiving a report from the Director of Medical Education stating that they had left hospital during duty hours without permission.

Amarnath, Associate Professor of Orthopaedics; R. Sowlee, Associate Professor of General Surgery; and U.R. Dhanalakshmi, Associate Professor of Dermatology, have been suspended with immediate effect, according to a release.

It was reported in a section of the media that the doctors had left the hospital at 11 a.m. on March 5, without permission. The DME's report had established the sequence of events described as factual.
