Three arrested on rape charges

A 13-year-old girl of Anthiyur in Erode district and a 12-year-old girl of Hosur in Krishnagiri district were allegedly raped and the police have arrested a 23-year-old man in Erode and a 40-year-old person in Hosur.

According to the police, the Anthiyur incident took place two days ago. The accused, R. Bharathi, allegedly persuaded the girl to come with him when her parents were out of the house. He took her away and raped her.

When the girl revealed the incident to her parents, they lodged a complaint with the police. He was arrested on Wednesday after the preliminary medical examination of the victim.

In Hosur, D. Mohan was caught by the public on Tuesday when he went into a temple with the 12-year-old girl and tried to sexually abuse her. He was handed over to the All Women’s Police Station.

It is alleged that he forced the girl into going with him to the temple for three consecutive days, but was caught in the third instance. The girl has been admitted to the Government Taluk Hospital in Hosur for medical examination. The police have registered a case. Mohan was produced before the local court and has been remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

A man has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, jointly with the IPC, for attempting to rape a minor at Vettaikaraniruppu in Vedaranyam on Tuesday.
