Three persons were arrested on the charges of murdering a young woman near Kodaikanal observatory here on Sunday.

The arrested were Sampath Kumar (32), a watchman in a private cottage in Kodaikanal, his friend Sakthivel of Narimedu in Madurai district and direct-to-home CD distributor in Kodaikanal Jegadeesa Pandian of Ladanendal near Thirubhuvanam in Sivaganga district.

The police said that trio had tried to misbehave with the woman while she was alone in the house. When she shouted, the gang stabbed her 15 times in the neck and escaped.

It may be recalled that Pandi Selvi (25) of Kodimangalam in Madurai district and servant maid in a private college professor’s house in Kodaikanal was murdered brutally by a three-member gang at Sellapuram near Kodaikanal Observatory on Friday.
