Threat to Inspector: case filed against AIADMK man

Kaliyakkavilai police have registered a case against Udhayakumar, Melpuram panchayat union secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in connection with the threat to Inspector Samson over phone here on Saturday under Sections 189 (threat to injury of public servant) and 506 (1) (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code.

Mr. Udhayakumar had allegedly threatened Kaliyakkavilai Police Inspector Samson for removing the flex board put up at three places on the Thiruvananthapuram National Highway affecting smooth flow of traffic.

This created a flutter in the district.

The functionary allegedly threatened the Inspector for removing the flex board put up for the birthday of Chief Minster Jayalalithaa on Thursday over phone. The audio file of the threat went viral on social media.

The flex banners reportedly put up by Mr. Udhayakumar again on the National Highway were removed on Friday night.
